Let's get to know Tasha!

FIT-TEEN: How do you stay in shape?

TASHA: Every Sunday I attend yoga classes which helps my balance and stretches out every muscle in my entire body. I also work on my breathing and slow movements which will prolong my life in the future. I personally own a Bowflex gym which my mom got for the whole family. I do various exercises that came in the guides for Bowflex about half an hour every other day depending on my daily schedule. Sometimes if I am not busy on the weekend I will work out for 1 hour. In the warm weather I go for a jog up and down my road which is 40 minutes each way. I also take my dog for a walk on the weekend if the weather is decent.

FIT-TEEN: Do you have a specific daily fitness routine?

TASHA: I am a college student in school full time for Esthetics which keeps me very busy from sun up to sun down so it is hard to have a daily routine. I try to fit in a half hour for me and my Bowflex. If not during the week I am definitely active on the weekend when I have more time to work out. I do a lot of walking around during my day at school as well as working out my arms giving aromatherapy massages and facials which really works my triceps and biceps.

FIT-TEEN: At what age did you start exercising or being active?

TASHA: Well as a child I was very active as most children are. I was the girl not interested in sports but I had a passion for dancing around age 13, which is a non-stop workout on all of my muscles and learning to stretch my muscles to be able to be more flexible. I was also into 4 wheeling at a very young age -- about 12 I believe. I would drive around my friends nanas four wheelers all the time with her and getting stuck in the mud we would have to try and pull the quad out or have to use the winch which would technically be working out my triceps and biceps in my arms and working out my quads and hamstrings in my legs. My dad played baseball with me a lot when I was younger and I loved soccer-baseball which is just like baseball but the ball is rolled to you and you kick it and run to the bases. I dont play a lot of sports and unfortunately I do not dance anymore but I still exercise as much as I can now that I am getting older.

FIT-TEEN: When did you want to become a model?

TASHA: My mother was a model when she was a teenager in local fashion shows and she was a lingerie model. I looked up to that at a very young age because I thought the women on the catwalk looked so beautiful and that they were so individual and unique doing their own thing. I was always shy to ask my mom if I could model because I did not know how she was going to react when her 10 year old daughter wanted to be a model -- until one day at the Oshawa Shopping Centre there was a stand made by Sutherland Models scouting out new models for that years addition. My best friend Pam knew how passionate I was about modeling and wanting to be a model so bad, so she made me go up to the woman and ask If I could sign up and I did and about 4 months later I got a call to be interviewed for Sutherland Models. I went there, nailed the audition and I became a model for Sutherland Models. That's where I started my runway training, and now I have been with a couple agencies and currently with Mainstream Models and Kontact Models attending auditions. If it wasn't for that one day in Oshawa with my best friend I dont think I would ever become a model.

FIT-TEEN: What are your hobbies?

TASHA: My number one hobby would be modeling, if it's not auditions I am doing creative shoots with photographers. I am an Esthetician so I love doing my job which I would call a hobby because I love doing pedicures, manicures, waxing, fake nails, and facials on my friends and family. I enjoy four-wheeling a lot, I have a dirt track at the end of my road where people four-wheel and bring their dirt bikes just to ride. I love taking pictures as well, of scenery, wildlife, and unordinary things just for fun, and my last but not least, I really enjoy scrapbooking.

FIT-TEEN: What’s your goal(s) for the future?

TASHA: I have already accomplished so many goals and I am well on my way to accomplishing another. I graduated from high school which was one of my biggest goals since I was a child. I got accepted into Sir Sanford Fleming College for Esthetics which has been my dream career, besides a Victoria Secret Model, since I first started co-op at a spa in Cobourg. I graduate in August and I have not failed any of my courses or been close to that. I am planning on working in a spa in Cobourg for at least a year to get experience. The spa I want to apply for a job at was my co-op and I am in trained in some services they do not have so I am happy to bring this spa new services! After that, I want to apply to work on a cruise ship, hopefully in the Bahamas! I just want to travel with my Esthetics diploma and hopefully work in a spa on a resort down south. Eventually through my travels I would love to open up my own Esthetics Day Spa and be a successful business woman. I have a lot on my plate for future goals but I am that kind of person that works up to the top until I reach all of my goals.

FIT-TEEN: What advice would you have for other girls who want to model?

TASHA: I would have to say that it's not all fun and games, you will be let down a lot in the beginning because you are new to the industry and there are thousands of new faces every week. Just have fun, keep a smile on and be aware that every "photographer" who contacts you, if you are signed up on model mayhem or exploretalent, that it might not be a real photographer, a lot of models get too ahead of themselves in the game and end up not in a good situation. There are also a lot of fraud agencies that I myself have lost thousands of dollars to a couple of them and there is pretty much nothing to do about it. Every agency will try and tell you "we are strict on who we choose, we look for pretty faces and girls who can model." It's a crock of crap, I have been told that a couple times from a couple agencies who told me I would get lots of work and I never once got a phone call for any work, and you end up finding out you were a victim of fraud. Overall, its not a bad industry just be aware, have fun and keep yourself safe!

FIT-TEEN: Thanks for the terrific answers, Tasha! Look out for more great stuff from this model!
