Physical Fitness for Teens

physical fitness for teens

Research has told us that from the ages of 12 to 17, physical fitness for teens is down sharply.

The most likely culprit for this is the tremendous amount of non-physical fitness activities available to teens in today's world.

Plus them not giving enough thought to the benefits of being fit.

These other activities too easily become a part of their lives.
Sitting in front of a computer or television set -- or texting friends for long periods of time while not moving -- has become a normal routine for many teens.

I'm young, they think. I'll deal with my health when I'm older.

This is a mindset that unfortunately can affect their health for the rest of their lives.

That's why physical fitness for teens is so important!"

They may understand that not exercising can affect their weight, but they don't realize that without exercise, you can't maintain healthy bones, muscles and joints, or even optimal blood pressure -- which, if neglected when young, will raise the likelihood of trouble down the road.

So, what to do? Simply put, all teens should get at least 45 minutes to 1 hour of physical fitness -- preferably every day.

Mix things up. Keep it fun. There's so many activities that can be incorporated into your day.

One key for those not sure what to do is figure out a way to incorporate activity into the things you already like to do.
